Ron King earned a B.A.Sc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and returned home to Bowmanville to run the family-owned paper converting business. This business sold in 1989.
In 1993, Ron joined the London Life Insurance Company as a sales representative. In 1998, Ron completed the IFIC Canadian Investment Funds Course (mutual funds). In 2000, when London Life rebranded its financial security planning division to Freedom 55 Financial, Ron’s title became a financial security advisor.
From 2001 to 2004, he earned the designations of Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). Since 1994, Ron has been a member of Advocis, the Financial Advisors Association of Canada.
Successful business relationships and dedication to his clients has helped increase the size of Ron’s practice. In 2007, he incorporated Specialty Wealth & Financial Inc. operating as Specialty Wealth & Financial. Ron continues to offer mutual funds as an investment representative, through Quadrus Investment Services Ltd.
One of Ron’s priorities as a financial advisor is to establish and continue a strong relationship with his clients. By reviewing your individual financial circumstances, on a regular basis, he is able to recommend adjustments and make accommodations for any changes in your life, accordingly. Many times overlooked, significant life changes such as a new job, home purchases, marriage, or divorce are reasons to meet with Ron. A review with Ron is not invasive, but rather like meeting with an old friend who can help clarify your financial goals and help you progress towards them. He has clients as far west as Windsor and as far east as Ottawa. With a GPS on his dashboard, and a cup of Earl Grey tea in his travel mug, he happily travels to meet with clients from across southern Ontario.
Ron and his wife, Joyce, have three daughters and one son. They are proud grandparents to their growing families. Ron enjoys being outdoors and participates in fishing, sailing, scuba diving, and RVing.
He has been involved in many organizations over the years, including the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron (as a past squadron commander), numerous church committees, and the Polar Bear Hunt Club (as past president). In recent years, he has achieved his Assistant Dive Instructor certification with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) and welcomes the opportunity to explore new locations.
