Individuals / Families

Financial products and services should address specific needs in your financial security plan – whether it is to help fund your child’s education, build a successful business, buy a home or retire comfortably. We have access to a broad range of insurance, investment and retirement income products to help meet your individual and family’s needs and goals.

Saving for an Education

RESPs are a great savings vehicle to save for your children or grandchildren’s education. This mutual fund grows tax free and withdrawals for approved post-secondary education are taxed in the hands of the beneficiary (Student), usually at a much lower tax rate then the contributor.  You make contributions to the plan, and the Canadian Government will make contributions, depending on the grant and learning bond you qualify for.  RESPs can be set up for individuals, families and groups.  Different plans have different requirements for both contributions and withdrawals.  We will explore the options with you and help you choose which plan works for you.  For more information see Registered Education Saving Plans (RESPs),

Investing in the future

It is never too soon or too late to start saving for the future.  Whether you have lots of money to add to savings, or just $25.00 a month to contribute, we will help you find a savings product that fits your need.  Regular contributions, over time, no matter how small add up.  How pleased will you be when your savings start to show more growth in a year, than your yearly contributions?  Past results show it is not how much you invest, but the length of time you are invested that provide a potentially larger return.  Mutual Funds, Segregated funds and Guaranteed Investment products can all be part of your investment portfolio and can be held in registered plans or non-registered plans.   We will work with you to determine which combination is best for your situation.

Financing a home

Home ownership is challenging at any time, but attainable with some careful planning and sound advice.  Ask your advisor about different plans and how they can be used to purchase your first home, such as the Home Buyer’s Plan, RRSPs and TFSAs.  Whether you are buying your first home, renewing your mortgage or refinancing to take advantage of another great opportunity (a family cottage), we have mortgage specialists that we work with.  They can assist in arranging a mortgage, bridge financing or a line of credit.

Once you have this credit available, we can also help you protect your family’s future using different forms of insurance, in the case of death, disability for critical illness.

Protecting you and your family

There are various types of insurance to cover the different risks that could be faced by families.  We will go through an exercise to determine the right amount of insurance for you.  Our recommendations are then based on your needs, time horizons and the ability to afford premiums.  The solution you adopt could be a combination of life, disability and/or critical illness insurances to cover what is important to you.

The Needs Analysis can be simple or complex.  These links are only 2 samples of the Needs Analysis questions available from various insurance companies and regulators.  The simple form primarily looks at how much life insurance.  The complex form explores both how much insurance you need and which type is best suited to your lifestyle.
